ICWA services offered through the Tribe vary depending upon the situation and
needs of the child and family. Sherwood Valley Indian Child Welfare provides support and
referral services outside of court cases with the goal of strengthening Indian families and contributing to family stability.
Advocacy: Support for child(ren) and parents through the often daunting experience of navigating
the judicial, social service, probation, mental health, school and other county/state
systems that at times our families find themselves challenged and involved with.
The Sherwood Valley Band of Pomo is a member of the National Indian Child Welfare Association
(NICWA) and receives support and technical assistance on current policies and regulations.
ICWA does not provide assistance for Child Custody disputes between parents.
